I've lost my wacom stylus. I've no clue where it's gone, but I can tell you that it isn't on my desk, in my underwear drawer, in the fridge, in my handbag, next to the kettle, on the bathroom windowsill or in the car Sad

A girl asked if I was supposed to be dressed up like a "goth'd up Nancy Drew." What?
I was wearing something roughly resembling this but with combat boots and a more goth top and shawl. And antique gold-rimmed glasses, heavy eyeliner and pigtails. Do I sound like a fictional character from the 50's?

Not a good day, really.
Removed an old, damaged electric night storage heater, and I thought there was an odd ammount of dust and grit blowing / falling out of it when I moved it. figured it was just from having the walls replastered... that is untill I started to remove the covers to take out the bricks - removed the inner cover to reveal.....

ASBESTOS! Broken up asbestos bits at that! affraid Shocked pale BUGGER!!

If I had even susspected that, I would have worn a dust mask at the very least. Sadly I didn't, so I got a good lung full instead. Rolling Eyes
It would have been OK, but the heater had been beaten, dented, and generally had the crap kicked out of it - so the asbestos liner had disintergrated into dust and loose fibre matting. Not good....!

I now have to dispose of an asbestos contaminated heater, and that's gona cost a bit! *sigh*

(maybe I should stick the asbestos in the for sale section - "for sale, cheap boiler insulation" Laughing )

First day of college.

We were given a leaflet in the science lab which seemed to be all about the nasty ways in which this lab could kill you. And if the chemistry lab doesn't get you the microbiology lab will!

That's terrible! Same thing happened here last week. It took a couple of days to find it, nestled safely under the front overhang of one of the tower cases, during which I kept looking everywhere for it, over and over. Even afterwards I find my eyes darting hither and thither in hopes of spotting it. Had to keep reminding self it was found!

Geting ready for a funereal is not fun to say the least. My sewing project has been kicking my behind but I think I finaly have it figured out.(Crosses fingers) I wish I had dentures so I could take my teeth out when they start hurting me and anbesol doesn't do much more than numb my lips and make me feel queasy. My sinuses are a part of the problem but I fear I may have a cavity. I am one of those silly people with a slight fear of the dentist. I blame watching little shop of horrors far too much as a kid. I got a very cheep bag of thick brown leather scrap and there are a lot of pieces in there I can make in to gauntlets and the like. Sometimes having tiny wrists and skinny arms is a good thing.

That would be accurate, Doctor.

In point of fact, it was found approximately 15cm from where it had been most recently observed, and in a different spatial orientation (i.e., horizontal rather than vertical).

This displacement is conjectured to have been effected by contact between the object and someone's gluteus maximus; how it ended up in a safe little niche rather than upon the floor is, and no doubt will remain, a mystery.

I think it has something to do with quanta ...

Went out yesterday to solve some financial trouble, and when I returned home, found a large check from the government in my mailbox. Apparently, they'd made a mistake in the calculation of my taxes or somesuch. In any event, it was a rather nice end to the day.

Had to dissable a faulty alarm system - without the master code (bloody ADT monitored system...). It kept going off every 15 mins or so, apparently due to a tamper fault (non existant, I checked). I only had the user code, but it was requesting an engineer code to reset, which ADT keep to themselves - even when they are no longer supporting the system (fair enough, but they refused to reprogram the system with a new master code after we terminated the service). Thats system was a joke when it was installed, always false alarming, sent fire brigade three seperate times (they refused to attend again) due to one smoke alarm faulting numerous times - even afetr the sensor was CHANGED to a new one (three seperate times!) - the wiring was substandard, and electrically unsafe (bare wires twisted together and pushed under the carpet... Rolling Eyes ). No wonder it faulted so many times. It was so bad that even one ADT service engineer agreed it was a poor job, said the ones who did the wiring job should be fired, and suggested we should take ADT to court and get our money back!

I dissabled the system in 3mins flat, I simply removed the power and battery backup to the internal sounders (LOUD!!!!) and then once things were nice and quiet, I defaulted the control panel to factory settings (and the default master code....) Wink Would have cost quite a bit of cash to have an alarm engineer do the same job - though admittedly, I'm not supposed to know how to default an alarm panel unless I'm an official installer / engineer.

Strange thing is that the alarm "faulted" the next day after ADT cold called and asked about what alarm we had, and if we wanted a new ADT system - to we which he was told what we thought of ADT and where he could shove his new alarm system..... Suspect
Strange coincidence, don't you think.... a system that was not used for three years, with batteries still in good condition, and still connected to the phone line (monitored alarms will fault if unplugged from the phone line for an extended time) - and an alarm system designed to periodically dial into the ADT office.........should fault with such.....timing?

Found out yesterday that Richard Wright, keyboardist for Pink Floyd, died. Sort of sad about that. Seems that recently, at least this summer/fall everone is dying...George Carlin, Bernie Mac, Isaac Hayes, The Movie Guy and now Wright.

'Tis a foul season....

someone (a grey maned lady actually) in the grocery, here in the burbs, said she liked my pink hair!
That kinda made my day... especially when she said she was thinking about purple for herself!

My day is starting off extremely well. Getting some stuff done, and managed to locate some embossing plates that I made 5 years ago for a project that I'm just now getting to finish! The end is at hand.

Other than that, it's not too shabby.

A quiet day at the sewing machine, generally making christmas items (shudder with horror at the prospect!), haven't ventured out today yet, will do so in a few moments to post letters, always glad to bump into my elderly gentleman neighbour who is often out and about. Only last week he regailed the tale of his telling his female (also elderly) neighbours that they should seek me out for dressing tips! I am sure that ingratiated him with the local ladies! hmm!
