Flock of flying squid jams engines? Jun 10 2013
I'm hoping this is just a regularly scheduled maintenance event. But if not, the BG forum site is definitely down (not the blog) as of 10:30AM CST / 2:30PM GMT

Yep. The forum lasted for about 3 minutes as I wrote, then froze with the "database error." I managed to get in momentarily, and now I can't log out. We need to replace the Chipmunk Processing Unit (CPU) on the server

Anyone on twitter? If so please tweet "No it isn't!" to @brasstech (Proteus) - he seems to think he sorted it an hour ago...

Re: Flock of flying squid jams engines? Jun 10 2013
Looks that way old chum. Sad day for the Internet.
The Etsy forum was riddled with spammers today. To top it off, the counter at Etsy that tells me how many visits I get per hour has stopped responding to my previously measured normal traffic I get from Twitter. It doesn't matter what traffic I send, it simply doesn't register. That coupled with the fact that I haven't sold but one item in 30 days, means it's time for me to shut doors on that shop and head for greener pastures.
Shame. I made great business while there, but it seems they have finally been overrun by the Association of Asian Factories Masquerading as Little Shops (AAFMLS); I recently found out that you needed something like 250-300 visits per hour - sustained continuously to stay in the front page. Impossible for "mum and pop" shops, but great for those who link their traffic from Alibaba. My guess is the AAFMLS is playing dirty, and driving the number of visits high artificially to increase their status and remain in the front page.
