Bug Out Bags - what's yours? Empty Bug Out Bags - what's yours?

While we are waiting for BG to come back up, I noticed that we don't have an emergency/fewmets-hit-the-windmill/Zombie Apocalypse/TEOTWAWKI thread. Yes, I am bored.

So let's start simple: what sort of bag do you have, and what indispensable items are in it?

Cheers!

Bug out? Bug out? because of Zombies? My dear Captain we here in America do not bug out because of Zombies..... we use firearms to deal with the problem preferably in a magnum caliber no need to bug out let them come the more the merrier.....

Magnum is nice, but I prefer to have "Nitro Express" in my calibres. Very Happy

So, you keep nothing but ammo in yours? Seriously, though, there are other emergencies listed. Much as I would have loved to shoot that last earthquake, or the ice storm before that, there are times when such would be useful.

I have the LLBean Continental Rucksack

With various bits of kit - it changes somewhat with the seasons. Usually I have some food, a fire lighting source, a "space blanket", and so on. A good med kit is important, of course.

Does anybody carry anything unusual, something that others might not think of, that would be vital in an emergency situation?

Cheers!

Do you expect me to carry something like that! egad man! thats what porters are for!

Sadly my knees are shot so bugging out will be out of the question... I'll sit tight and use up all my ammo...
If I were to choose a pack I would pull one from stock at the facility where I work......

London Bridge! DAMNED good equipment! I worked with some gents from a Special unit - associated with aquatic mammals, so to speak - a while back, and they swore by it.

Good stuff.

As long as we are here... just got a reminder the other night that emergencies happen when they will, not when you expect them.

Bang. Lights went out. I pull out my cell phone to light my immediate surroundings - I have two flashlights here on the desk. Take stock - lights are on in another part of the neighborhood, must have been a transformer; not the end of the world. Gather up the oil lamps I keep in readiness, and begin to live in the 19th century. It wasn't cold, we wouldn't need a fire unless the power stayed out a lot longer than it should.

Then I realize that the transformer exploded because somebody had hit a power pole. A crowd had begun to gather, someone had called 911 already, nobody needed medical help that I could give. Airbags worked, the lady was okay, but shaken up.

The power came back on permanently about two hours after the first bang. No big deal - but a reminder.

Cheers!
