the fact only the brim is touching lets it slide around

try taping some blocks of foam inside so they hit your head at about the transition from the top of your head to the sides. a temporary try would be a dishrag twisted and looped inside the hat to ride about where the foam should. should look like a stocking rolled down off your leg....hmm you could try that too. I those cheap dollar store helmets and hats for kids I usually make a foam rubber donut from some old foam scraps and an electric carving knife. I just hot glue them in.

I volunteer to help with the stockings if needed.

for queen and country and all that. or in the name of science. whichever keeps me from getting slapped Very Happy

The stocking idea is a very good one so you may avoid a slap for now. Very Happy

I added some combs to the front of the hat last night and they help quite a bit but it does put quite a bit of pressure at the front of the hat if I can use padding to equalize that I may just have something I can wear to the roller rink and keep on my head throughout the costume contest without worry. I have set the standard as far as costumes go with wearing steampunk to every retro night I could, now I get to see what everyone else can come up with.
